Smart Bag

The Smart Bag offers a simple solution to the problems associated with over and under ventilation during Bag Valve Mask (BVM) resuscitation. By self adjusting to both the patient and rescuer, the Smart Bag regulates the pressure and quantity of air delivered. A unique “actuating mechanism” in the neck of the bag responds to the technique of the rescuer and the condition of the patient's airway (which may be restricted or incompliant), to ensure optimum results with every squeeze.

This almost completely eliminates the risks associated with conventional BVM ventilation such as:

  • Excessive flow rates generated by squeezing the BVM too hard or fast, causing high airway pressure (NB A red indicator becomes visible if this happens).
  • Gastric insufflation caused by gas being diverted into the stomach due to over compression of the bag.
  • Subsequent vomiting by the patient and aspiration of the stomach contents.
  • Reduced tidal volume delivery (due to partial volume going into the stomach).
  • Barotrauma.
  • Poor Ventilation, poor CO2 removal, increased respiration alkolosis and poor oxygenation.
